Enormous, museum-quality panoramic display piece featuring the members of the 1917 World Champion Chicago White Sox.  Long considered one of the most impressive display pieces of the era, this rare print is framed to a monstrous 41" x 21" in a bulky wooden frame.  The piece is noteworthy not only because of its impressive size and content, but also because of its relationship with the 1919 "Black Sox," as it includes all eight of the players that were banned from baseball for their role in fixing the 1919 World Series: Eddie Cicotte, Hap Felsch, Chick Gandil, Fred McMullen, Swede Risberg, Buck Weaver, Lefty Williams, and of course, Shoeless Joe Jackson.  Each of the eight players are pictured shoulder-to-shoulder with their teammates (which includes Hall of Famers Eddie Collins, Urban Faber and Ray Schalk, along with manager Kid Gleason).  Owner and Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey is pictured in an inset photo atop the print, as are team treasurer Louis Comiskey and secretary Harry Grabiner.  The photographic images are superimposed over a packed Comiskey Park, fans practically spilling out of the grandstand.  

An unusual addition to this piece is an advertising message, "Compliments of F. O.  Clizbe," which is printed in the white area above the stadium roof.  This message is not one we have encountered in other examples of this piece.  F. O. Clizbe is likely Floyd Clizbe, who was president of the Lilly Varnish Company of Indianapolis.  Lilly Varnish was a paint manufacturer which apparently had a presence in Chicago.  This is the only example of this piece that we have found which contains the advertising message.

The print itself is strong, with some areas of staining and small areas of paper loss near the edges, which may lead to some small edge tears that are unobservable due to the frame.  The bottom edge exhibits some moisture staining.  A previous sale of this piece from many years ago refers to "conservation mounting" and light professional cleaning that took place with this piece, we suspect to help stabilize and reduce some of the moisture damage along the bottom edge.  The result is a lovely display, a rare and extremely desirable piece featuring all eight members of the Black Sox, most notably Shoeless Joe Jackson.
