Beautiful pair of advertising posters promoting Walk-Over shoes, and a promotion run by the company during the Red Sox-Tigers game at the Huntington Avenue Grounds on August 5, 1911.  During that promotion, a certificate for two pairs of Walk-Over shoes was given for each safe hit made in the game.  The promotion was quite a motivator for the ball clubs, (Detroit won, 7-4), the Red Sox pounded out 14 hits and the Tigers 15, the teams committing three errors between them to boot.  Hopefully the 32 pair of shoes given out by the company were worth it.  The two framed posters depict wide-angle ballpark shots taken with "Bell's Straight Working Camera," and depict a jam packed grandstand during game play - one shot from near the dugout on the third base side of home plate, the other from just behind the plate on the first base side.  Both photos are spectacular, capturing wide-angle views of the ballparks, along with stadium advertising, game play, and the ballfield itself.  Each photo is framed to a finished size of approximately 23" x 11 1/2".  Both photos exhibit wear and light creasing and gouging, along with heavier soiling, and the frames prevent us from examining the edges and reverse.  Still, both pieces have tremendous eye appeal, particularly the home plate shot, which is one of the finest images of deadball era game play we have seen.
