Pat Moran spent 14 seasons in the National League as a player (1901-14), and nine seasons managing both the Philadelphia Phillies (1915-18) and the Cincinnati Reds (1919-23). In 1915 he led his Phillies to the World Series where they were ultimately bested by the American League's Boston Red Sox. Moran is most remembered today as skipper for a Reds squad who defeated the infamous 1919 Chicago White Sox in the World Series over the course of eight controversial games. This is a magnificent pair of Moran photos, including a 6.5" x 8.5" Paul Thompson portrait and a 5" x 7" shot from International that served as the source image for Moran's 1923 V100 Willard's Chocolate card. Both photo surfaces are clean though there are pinholes at top and bottom of the 5x7. Verso of both photos include news photo service stamping and pencil notations identifying Moran. Additionally, the portrait photo includes stamping from photographer J.R. Schmidt.
