This fantastic grouping of 13 cabinet photographs shows the majority of the 1907 University of Illinois baseball team.  Each cabinet photo shows its respective player in a full-body pose, highlighted by the vivid blue tones resulting from the cyanotype photo printing process.  While many period photos tended to fade over time, cyanotype photos rarely fade, and as a result, each of these images is brilliantly preserved.  As a University team, many names tend to be list with time.  However, we were able to uncover at least initials for all of those pictured, and additional information on a few players.  Carl Vandagrift (played 43 games as an infielder for the Indianapolis Hoosiers of 1914); Howard Blaine Bushnell; W. Huff; Jack E. Morrison (later played amateur baseball for Duluth, MN); D.T. Gunning; W.C. Taylor; Otto Dickie ("Declined an enviable offer from the Boston American team, preferring to follow his professional a civil engineer." However, he signed with the Browns in 1909, though he never appeared on their roster); Jimmy B. Snyder (signed to play professional baseball with Baltimore in the Eastern League, but never appeared to actually play); George Huff (Managed the 1907 Boston American team following Chick Stahl's untimely death.  Following only managing a handful of games, he returned to coach the University of Illinois baseball team); E. R. Evans; Ira T> Carrithers (became Director of Athletics and Coach of baseball and basketball at Coe College); Louis Cook (team manager); Mark Deems Dissoway.  This is a rare and unusual grouping, showcasing a nearly complete team set of cabinet cards, showcased via a more rare printing style.  13 cabinets total.
