Lot Description  

Outstanding collection of Detroit Tigers cards from the 1949 through 1955 Bowman issues, compiled by a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan.  Included in the collection are the following: 1) 1949 Bowman (16 cards - complete): #10 Gray, #26 Kell (HOF), #42 Evers, #56 Mullin, #75 Mayo, #91 Wakefield, #107 Lake, #122 Vico, #133 Robinson, #141 Lupien, #148 Swift, #164 Wertz, #180 Berry, #196 Hutchinson, #208 Trout, #219 Trucks.  Average grade is GOOD, but with largely strong eye appeal, a few exhibiting writing or paper loss on the reverse, and a large crease through the center of the Kell.  2) 1950 Bowman (19 cards - complete): #8 Kell (HOF), #9 Wertz, #41 Evers, #42 Houseman, #95 Robinson, #96 Trucks, #133 Kolloway, #134 Trout, #135 Mullin, #149 Swift, #150 Vico, #151 Hutchinson, #210 Gray, #211 Keller, #212 Priddy, #240 Lake, #241 Berry, #242 Kryhoski, #243 Groth.  Average grade EX with a few better and a few lesser, several exhibiting centering issues consistent with Bowman cards of the era.  3) 1951 Bowman (23 cards - complete): #23 Evers, #45 Houseman, #46 Kell (HOF), #71 Priddy, #104 Trucks, #105 Kolloway, #106 Mullin, #140 Lake, #141 Hutchinson, #142 Robinson, #176 Wertz, #177 Keller, #178 Gray, #197 Cain, #213 Berry, #214 Swift, #249 Groth, #250 Brown, @284 Bearden, #285 Lipon, #319 Rolfe, #320 White, #321 Johnson.  Average grade is GOOD with a few better and several lesser, Kell grades roughly GOOD with surface wear and is printed off-register.  4) 1952 Bowman (17 cards - complete): #3 Hutchinson, #13 Makes, #39 Wertz, #67 Groth, #75 Kell (HOF), #91 Kolloway, #111 Evers, #131 Swift, #139 Priddy, #147 Stuart, #163 Lipon, #183 Mullin, #199 Gray, #209 Littlefield, #216 Batts, #235 Souchock.  Average grade is VG with a few better and one or two lesser, the Males card exhibits some writing on the reverse.  5) 1953 Bowman Color (10 cards - complete): #4 Houseman, #6 Ginsberg, #45 Dropo, #47 Garver, #72 Gray, #91 Souchock, #100 Wight, #125 Hatfield, #132 Hutchinson, #134 Pesky.  Average grade VG with virtually all falling in the VG or VG+ range.  6) 1953 Bowman Black and White (4 cards - complete): #4 Mullin, #8 Hoeft, #22 Batts, #44 Delsing.  Avg grade GOOD, with Batts POOR.  7) 1954 Bowman (14 cards - complete): #7 Dropo, #23 Kuenn, #39 Garver, #55 Delsing, #71 Gray, #87 Lund, #103 Souchock, #119 Hatfield, #135 Pesky, #151 Mullin, #167 Hoeft, #183 Batts, #199 Gromek, #215 Bucha.  Average grade is VG/EX with a few lesser.  8) 1955 Bowman (17 cards - complete): #23 Kaline, #24 Aber, #35 Tuttle, #36 Belardi, #91 Marlowe, #92 Zuverink, #121 Crawford, #132 Kuenn, #133 King, #154 Lary, #187 Hatfield, #188 Garver, #203 Gromek, #204 Bolling, #228 Phillips, #254 Flowers, #274 Delsing.  Average grade is VG/EX.  Kaline looks a sharp VG/EX but is technically VG due to some excessive wear at the top right corner.  An outstanding collection of every Bowman Detroit Tigers card from 1949 through 1955.  120 cards total.
