Complete 49-card set of 1948 Leaf Boxing cards, perhaps the most important postwar boxing issue.  Featuring colorized black and white images of its subjects, set against either colorful blue or red backgrounds, or against white backgrounds, the skip-numbered set features a host of fighters from both the era of issue as well as from history.  The result is that 75% of the fighters included in the set are in the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and 13 were heavyweight champions.  The set is considered complete without the ultra-rare Rocky Graziano card, which was likely pulled from distribution very early in the print run and is thus one of the most rare of all sports cards.  A strong grouping, as is the case with all the Leaf sports issues, the cards are condition-sensitive not only due to handling but also due to inferior printing; centering is nearly always an issue, and although this particular collection is free of them, the cards are often found with print errors including registration problems, color issues, and wrong backs.

An approximate condition breakdown of this collection would be as follows:  19% VG/EX, 42% VG, 33% GOOD, 6% FAIR, with keys as follows: #1 Dempsey GOOD, #9 Jeffries FAIR, #17 Johnson VG+, #25 Atwell GOOD, #32 Schmeling GOOD, #47 Conn FAIR, #48 Lewis VG, #55 Corbett GOOD, #64 Robinson VG/EX, #73 Tunney VG, #09 Carnera GOOD, #93 Baer VG, #101 Sullivan VG, #102 LaMotta VG+.  An attractive, collector-grade set, one of the most important of all the boxing issues.  49 cards total.
