Framed a finished size of 27" x 21", this beautiful woodcut was published in Harper's Weekly in 1885, depicting New York's Buck Ewing (HOF) sliding in ahead of Chicago White Stockings catcher Silver Flint.  The illustration depicts a game that occurred on Thursday, August 6 in New York, a 1-0 win for the New York team.  Ewing, as noted in the title, is scoring the winning run ahead of Flint's tag as the umpire looks on.  Beautifully colored, the well-known woodcut makes a wonderful display.
