In advance of our last auction, an extraordinary grouping of cards were consigned by a long-time collector who had left the hobby some time ago.  We submitted his cards for grading, only to learn that his T206 portrait cards were returned by SGC with the AUTHENTIC grade.  This beautiful Chief Bender is one of those cards, an exceptionally bright and well-centered example that has all the elements of an EX condition card.  Whether there is a slight trim or not, we cannot easily identify, but we can say that for all this time, the T206 cards have been stored securely in screw down holders, which at one point were the gold standard of sportscard display but unfortunately often leave signs that suggest edges being pressed.  Whether some long-ago alteration was once performed on this card we cannot say, but our consignor was certainly unaware of any, purchasing this card ungraded and storing it for several decades in a safe deposit box.  Regardless of the grade, a wonderful card.
