With outstanding eye appeal, this is one of several T206 Hall of Famers featured in this auction that were consigned from the collection of a longtime hobbyist who stepped away from collecting in the late 80s or early 90s, with a small but high-quality collection of ungraded cards.  Most of them were offered in our last auction, but the T206s were largely returned by SGC with AUTHENTIC grades, which caused our consignor some consternation.  He purchased the cards ungraded because third-party grading was not popular at the time, and he cherished his collection of well-centered T206 Hall of Famers and kept them carefully stored in screwdown holders.  Whether the SGC grade is a result of a long-ago trim or because of flattening of the edges that comes from the pressure of the screwdown, we are unable to tell, however, despite the AUTHENTIC grade, this is a beautiful, well-centered and clean specimen.
