One of a number of T206 Hall of Famers that were consigned from the collection of a longtime hobbyist who built a small but powerful collection of prewar cards in the 1980s and 1990s, purchasing each ungraded, with an incredible eye for quality. Unfortunately, all his cards were stored in screwdown holders, and each of his T206 cards were returned by SGC with an AUTHENTIC grade, this being one of them. Despite the technical grade, the aesthetics of this card are very strong, the image clean, with a few minor blemishes and areas of surface abrasion. While we cannot detect obvious signs of trimming, we acknowledge it is at least possible that it is that, as opposed to damage from the screwdown holder in which it resided, that accounts for the grade. Regardless, a very appealing example of one of the key cards in the set.
