Despite being an exercise in futility, the expansion Seattle Mariners of 1977 did not finish last in their division, managing to best the awful Oakland Athletics by a half game, their 64-98 record good enough for sixth in the AL West. On paper, the team was not half bad, offensively, with Dan Meyer, Ruppert Jones and Leroy Stanton each hitting 20 home runs, Meyer and Stanton each driving in 9 runs.  Pitching was the weakness, with only two pitchers starting more than 20 games, and a team ERA approaching 5.  None of this prevented the club from doing marketing, however, as evidenced by this large-format schedule poster featuring Meyer and shortstop Craig Reynolds.  Two-color piece features some local advertising as well as the Mariners' schedule for the season, and appears in outstanding condition, professionally matted to a finished size of 22" x 28". A remarkable survivor from the Ms' debut season.
