Lightly but evenly worn, 1914 Cracker Jack of Ira Thomas has been graded POOR 1 by SGC due largely to pencil writing on the front which "corrects" Thomas' team affiliation to Boston. Thomas, named Athletics' captain in 1914, took an anti-union stance and was relentlessly taunted as a "scab" during the World Series by the Braves team. Thomas lasted just one year as team captain, but was a polarizing figure in the clubhouse during that time, and was not particularly popular, with either players or fans. The team change noted on his card seems to have been more wishful thinking on the part of a young fan than anything else, as the catcher played one game with the 1915 Athletics, serving more as a mentor for young pitchers, and was out of professional baseball by 1916.
