As the 2021 World Series drew to a close, we were reminded of Rogers' Hornsby's immortal quote "People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." The intensity on Hornsby's face in this 1922 Eastern Exhibit card describes his feeling about the game, his glove stuffed in his back pocket, bat over one shoulder. Light corner rounding provides the condition flaw that reduces the technical grade of the card to more affordable levels, but it is that intensity and the calm, confident pose that lends the card it's eye appeal.
