Measuring 5 3/4" x 4 3/4", original Type 1 photo picturing the 1959 Brazil soccer team, with one of the most famous and important players in the history of the sport - Pele.  Clearly trimmed from a larger piece, the photo is clean and with outstanding contrast.  Named after Thomas Edison, Edson Arantes do Naascimento received the nickname "Pele" while in school, and he has stated that he has no idea what it means.  By 16 he was a the top scorer in Brazil, and was the youngest player to play in a World Cup final at 17 years of age when playing for Brazil in 1958.  Outstanding photo of the young superstar, authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
