Gorgeous photo picturing a young Bill Russell in mid-dunk with University of San Francisco. A raw athlete with little basketball ability in high school (where he played with Frank Robinson), Russell received a scholarship offer from USF recruiter Hal DeJulio, the only recruiter that expressed interest in Russell. There, he learned the game, and became an excellent defender, so much that the NCAA instituted a rule change by widening the lane in response to his dominance.
The photo is wonderful, picturing the lean, budding star in mid-leap, basketball above the rim, the player directly in the center of the photo. Excellent condition with little noticeable wear, Russell's name and height typewritten on the reverse. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
