Incredibly scarce baseball artifact dating roughly to the 1890s, one of the earliest chest protectors commercially available. This scarce early piece of equipment features a deep olive green color, and black leather straps. Despite its advanced age of over 125 years, it remains in outstanding condition, with no rips, tears, holes, stains, ink writing or breaks to any of its original leather straps and buckles. A tremendous find in this condition. There is no manufacturer's tag present, and the chest protector measures approximately 15% x 23", indicating a youth or smaller adult model. EX+ condition.
