5% NM/MT, 25% NM, 46% EX/MT, 23% EX, with a few lesser (both checklists have been filled in).  Stunning near-complete set, missing just six cards for completion (the card of Joe Namath is featured elsewhere in this auction), an original-owner collection that was assembled directly from packs in the year of issue and carefully stored away.  The set, which features AFL players only, is a popular one that is similar in nature to the 1955 Bowman baseball issue, picturing the subject inside a faux-woodgrain frame, modeled after a color television screen.  The woodgrain borders make the cards quite condition sensitive, as they are prone to chipping.  The majority of condition flaws in this collection are related either to centering, or to light corner wear, as the cards have largely been well-preserved.
