Pair of important cards from a very curious issue distributed in 1910 on candy boxes manufactured by the Geo. Davis Co and the P.R. Warren Co.  The box indicated that the set featured 144 subjects, but just a few have been discovered as of today.  The cards are called "orange borders" by collectors today, because the player images were surrounded by orange borders, however, the "borders" were simply a part of the box - so there is no true border definition.  Presented here is a pair of cards, each featuring a team photo of the champions of each league, the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates, who met in the 1909 World Series.  The Tigers photo, which, of course, includes Ty Cobb, is graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC, mostly due to the irregular cut, along with some chipping and wrinkling on the reverse.  The image quality, however, is strong.  The Pirates photo, which includes Honus Wagner, is graded VG 3 by SGC, with a cleaner image but the borders cut with slightly less room around the edges than the Tigers version.  Still, two very interesting and desirable cards from a tough issue.
