Unquestionably the key card in the scarce and attractive 1934 Goudey premium issue, the R309-1 Babe Ruth is typically found in lower grades for the obvious reason that young collectors coveted the oversized premiums and used them as display items. Tack holes, creases, and various forms of wear are common to the issue. Graded GOOD 2 by SGC, this example is quite strong for the grade, some moderate surface wear along with wear at the corner and edges being the primary flaw. The lower-left corner exhibits a pronounced crease, with some smaller, but visible creases at the bottom-right. The reverse does exhibit some paper loss at the left and right edges, likely from scrapbook removal.
