The 1922 W503 set is extraordinarily rare.  Just over 100 examples of the 64-card set have ever been graded, and although the cards are given the "W" designation, the true method of distribution is speculated to have been along with candy or gum.  The cards measure 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" and feature sharp, black and white photography - another of the more attractive 1920s black and white issues and certainly one of the lest plentiful.  In most cases, no more than 1 or 2 examples of each subject have been graded, with most at the low end of the scale.  This is an exceptional example featuring Yankees first baseman Wally Pipp, graded GOOD 2 by SGC due to a visible crease that traverses the center of the card, horizontally from left to right edge.  The eye appeal, however, is strong, the borders crisp and white, the corners square, and the image quality excellent for the grade.
