Though it is our opinion that Rod Carew remains one of the most underrated players of his era, he is beginning to get his due as of late. A pure hitter, Carew batted .328 lifetime, reaching 200 hits in four seasons and flirting with the .400 mark numerous times, coming closest in his amazing 1977 campaign, when he batted .388 with 14 home runs and a career-high 100 RBI and 128 runs scored. His rookie card has begun to reflect a new interest in his stellar career, always desirable but with prices rapidly escalating. Presented here is a nearly-perfect example, graded MINT 9 by PSA, a very slight centering issue keeping the card from a higher holder. Just one example has achieved the lofty GEM MINT grade of 10, this example being a very desirable, high-end card of a player who is finally beginning to receive the accolades he deserves.
