Members of the New York Yankees (notably Hall of Famer Home Run Baker) along with team ownership Tom Huston and Jacob Ruppert march in formation with baseball bats slung over their shoulders military-style. The headline and caption implies that the photo was taken on Opening Day at the Polo Grounds. Coincidentally on that date the Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox who started a young pitcher named Babe Ruth. The Red Sox clobbered the Yankees that day 10-3 as Ruth threw a complete game giving up just three hits. The attractive piece measures 18 1/2" x 12 1/2" and is dry-mounted to a cardboard backing held in place with shrinkwrap that has in its age gotten a bit loose. Some edge wear is evident as is a small bit of surface wear minor creasing and a few very small tears. Still an interesting piece taken of the Yankees as WWI raged overseas the ballclub marching in military formation.
