The headline and caption implies that the photo was taken on Opening Day at the Polo Grounds. Coincidentally on that date the Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox who started a young pitcher named Babe Ruth. The Red Sox clobbered the Yankees that day 10-3 as Ruth threw a complete game giving up just three hits. The attractive piece measures 18 1/2" x 12 1/2" and is dry-mounted to a cardboard backing held in place with shrinkwrap that has in its age gotten a bit loose. Some edge wear is evident as is a small bit of surface wear minor creasing and a few very small tears. Still an interesting piece taken of the Yankees as WWI raged overseas the ballclub marching in military formation.
