I have one to sell!
Wonderful pairing of baseball-themed pencil boxes dating to the 1880s. Collection includes: 1) 2 1/4" x 8" rectangular pencil box featuring a spectacular 19th Century game scene with knicker-clad players and Victorian ladies looking on. The colorful lid opens to reveal compartmentalized sections for pens and pencils. When these do surface they are typically found with considerable wear. This example has survived beautifully with none of the typical chips and tears just some minor toning and overall surface wear in the form of a few stray chips and scratches. 2) 13" pencil box in the form of a ring-style baseball bat. Composed of three separate sections which fit perfectly and snugly together to form a bat. The handle is burgundy the midsection blonde and the barrel is black. Barrel and midsection are both hollow allowing for pencils to be stored within. Ultra rare piece remains in beaitiful condition with no chips or cracks. Two pieces total.
