The 1952 Topps set is the most classic and popular of all postwar baseball card sets and is usually the one credited for ushering in the "golden age" of sportscard collecting. Its design has been re-used in multiple "tribute" issues and its card #311 Mickey Mantle is the "white whale" card of countless baseball collectors. The infamous 1952 Topps story surrounds its second series.
