Exceptional official Wrigley Field scorecard for what is perhaps the most famous of all World Series games - Game 3 of the 1932 contest between the Yankees and Chicago Cubs. Facing Cubs starter Charlie Root in the fifth inning Babe Ruth the subject of quite a bit of bench jockeying gestured toward the stands during his at-bat just prior to belting a near-500' home fun to deep center into the temporary seats. The legend began almost immediately that Ruth "called" his shot though the reality has been in dispute ever since with members of the Yankees (including Ruth and Lou Gehrig) insisting that the Babe did call his shot and members of the Cubs denying it. Either way Ruth and Gehrig each homered twice in the game as did Cubs future Hall of Famers Kiki Cuyler and Gabby Hartnett. Only the home runs are marked in the scorecard along with the pitchers of the game. The rest of the game unfortunately has not been scored. in VG_ condition the scorecard is sturdy and durable with edge wear and some surface creasing and edge chipping on the cover as well as signs of light wear and creasing to the interior pages. An exceptional document of one of the most legendary of all the World Series contests.
