Exceptional original photo dating to 1926 picturing the great Babe Ruth posed in front of a host of adoring fans in Wilkes-Barre's Artillery Park. Ruth played in a barnstorming game on October 12 of 1926 during which time that he smashed a home run off Pittston Pennsylvania pitcher Ernie Corkran after the conclusion of the game purported to be the longest ball ever hit by Ruth. Based on historical accounts a Wilkes-Barre baseball historian in 2003 estimated the blast traveled more than 600 feet! The photo measures 7 3/4" x 8 3/4" and does exhibit some wear as well as photographer's stamp and notations on the reverse. An exceptional photo documenting one of Ruth's more infamous barnstorming games dating to the prime of his career. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA with an accompanying Letter of Authenticity.
