LATE NOTE: A scan of the MEARS LOA has been uploaded to this lot listing. Tremendous Baltimore Orioles flannel home jersey worn by pitcher Steve Barner during the 1965 season. The 1965 Orioles finished third in the American League and Barber was one of the team's aces finishing the season with a 15-10 record and a 2.69 ERA in 220.2 innings. Barber would pitch 15 seasons in the majors his finest season being the 1963 campaign when he went 20-13 with a 2.75 ERA. A two-time All-Star the hard-throwing lefty suffered a back injury that hampered his control in 1964 but rebounded for the 1965 season. His 1966 season started tremendously as he was 10-3 at the All-Star break but elbow tendinitis limited him to 14 innings pitched in the second half an ailment that would continue on and off through the rest of his career. The jersey is beautiful a short-sleeved size 44 Wilson jersey with clear tagging on the tail. Barber has signed the jersey in the same area for former Orioles broadcaster Ted Patterson the consignor of the jersey. Though the presentation of the jersey is simply fantastic some heavier staining at the left tail has resulted in a 1.5 point reduction in grade resulting in an overall assessment of A8.5 by MEARS.
