Issued over a 17-year period between 1901 and 1917 these attractive supplements were blank-backed black and whate photos that were included with each issue of the weekly men's magazine. The supplements featured not only baseball players but other athletes actresses models and other subjects appealing to the readers of a men's magazine. The oversized (11 1/4" x 16 1/4") pieces are due to their thin paper and large size very difficult to find in premium condition frequently torn folded heavily creased and with tears to the thin paper. Presented here is one of the most important and valuable of all the Police Gazette supplements issued in September of 1913 and featuring the great Shoeless Joe Jackson. A spectacular large photo picturing Jackson in his Cleveland uniform "Black Betsy" bat in his hands fielder's glove stuffed into his back pocket. In outstanding condition one horizontal fold across the center along with very light corner wear. A fantastic supplement featuring one of the most widely-collected players in the prewar hobby.
