Artist Michael Reagan is probably best known for his "Fallen Soldiers" portraits hand-drawn portraits he creates for free for the families of soldiers killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Reagan's career began in the late 1990s by drawing commissioned portraits for celebrities the Washington-based Vietnam veteran would draw two portraits of a celebrity and provide one as a gift asking the second to be signed and returned to the artist. As a result Reagan developed a collection of more than 1500 signed portraits. Over the years Reagan has drawn portraits and donated them to charity auctions that have raised more than $10 million nationally. He currently accepts commission work of all kinds. Presented here is an outstanding portrait a pencil drawing of the great Willie Mays. As is the case with so many of Reagan's pieces this began with Mays' signature on a blank illustration board (the heavy board measures 10" x 15"). Reagan then goes to work creating the illustration atop the signature and then signs the finished work himself.
