Lot Description  

Attractive Wilson NFL Autograph Model football signed and inscribed on the signature panel by Jay Berwanger the first winner of the Downtown Athletic Club trophy which was renamed the Heisman Trophy the following season. Berwanger as his inscription indicates was the first player drafted in the inaugural NFL draft in 1936 selected by the Philadelphia Eagles. His rights traded to Chicago Berwanger was not able to agree with George Halas on salary so Berwanger did not wind up playing professional football. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
