The Zeenut cards of PCL players were the longest-running set of PCL baseball cards. Inserted into boxes of Home Run Kisses Zeenuts and Ruf-Neks candy the cards were produced from 1913 through 1937 and contained a coupon at the bottom of the card that could be redeemed for a variety of prizes. This was a massive set with new discoveries being made all the time. Ivy League pitcher Chet Nourse was one of baseball's earliest hype stories predating the likes of David Clyde Paul Wilson and Brien Taylor by decades. Considered one of the best college pitchers of the year Nourse's major league career lasted just nine days as he pitched only five innings in three games with the 1909 Red Sox. After the 1909 season Nourse went to Sacramento pitching two seasons with the Solons and accumulating a 14-18 record with a 3.07 ERA. He retired after the 1911 season.
