Among the more rare premium items of the era the Roxbury Massachusetts bakery issued a small series of large-format (typically 9" by 24") felt pennants containing a black and white photo decorated with elegant borders and graphics. To obtain one of the pennants lucky collectors needed to redeem 50 tickets from five-cent loaves of bread. Today the pennants are so scarce that just a handful of players - eight in total - have been checklisted with the total number of different subjects produced unknown. Clearly exhibiting some condition issues the pennant of John McGraw has been trimmed at the top edge and at the tip as well. The image of McGraw does exhibit a slight tear across the top and some additional surface wear is evident. Regardless these pennants are extraordinarily rare in any grade; simply finding one is a prize. This is an extremely rare pennant one of six Hall of Famers known (the others are Alexander Cobb Collins Huggins and Tinker). This is the first example of the issue we have handled and one of very few we have even seen. It is a pleasure to offer such a rare prized item.
