I have one to sell!
Tremendous early Detroit Tigers flannel road jersey belonging to popular pitcher Virgil "Fire" Trucks who pitched for the Tigers between 1941 and 1952 and then again for one season in 1956. During that season Trucks pitched in 22 games mostly as a starter posting a 6-5 record with an ERA of 3.83. The Rawlings size 46 Jersey boasts extremely strong eye appeal clean with proper stitching and tagging Trucks' name stitched into the tail. During his single season with Detroit Trucks wore uniform number 23 but this particular jersey has had the number replaced re-stitched by the team with number 48. For that reason MEARS has deducted 2 1/2 points from their base grade of 10 resulting in a grade of A7.5. As noted on the MEARS LOA it is likely that this uniform saw extended use in the Tigers organization after Trucks left the team; unfortunately the uniform number 48 was not used by an active player until 1963 when Willie Horton assumed that number. Detroit abandoned this style of road uniform in 1960 however making it unlikely that anyone after Trucks used this uniform outside of spring training. Regardless a spectacular early Detroit Tigers flannel. Full LOA from MEARS.
