Attractive cabinet photo of "Champion of the World" James J. Corbett. Corbett knocked out John L. Sullivan in September of 1892 winning the heavyweight championship losing to Bob Fitzsimmons in 1897 and rarely fought during that time. The cabinet photo clearly dates to that five-year period. Appearing to be in GOOD condition the mount and overall color are strong with some light foxing evident on the mount and the image itself. The reverse is clean and lightly toned with the type at the bottom bleeding through slightly to the reverse. An exceptional early cabinet photo.
