Beautiful and highly desirable full-color cabinet photo produced by Duke Tobacco to market its "Honest" tobacco brand this four-card set is the only full-color cabinet-sized cards produced before 1900. This card graded FAIR 20 by SGC largely due to the purple owner stamp of Earl Correll found on both the back and front of the cabinet presents extraordinarily well with bold color and a clean image. The front stamp while clearly visible does not detract from the overall eye appeal of the piece nor the colorful image of Davis itself as the stamp appears along the top edge of the white background. The mount is intact with corner and edge wear consistent with the grade. This is a very difficult and highly coveted cabinet of a great Hall of Famer one of the players who bridged the 19th Century and the Deadball era. While Honus Wagner clearly retains the title of greatest shortstop ever there is a small pack of players just behind Wagner in which Davis resides. A lifetime batting average of .295 and OPS+ of 121 rank him among the greatest ever at his position; his defensive WAR is 20th all-time and his overall WAR is 52nd. A great shortstop inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 by the Veterans Committee George Davis may finally be getting his due.
