The 1957 Spic and Span Braves issue was a regional issue distributed by a Milwaukee-area dry cleaner. The cards are 4" x 5" black and white photographic cards each with a wide white border with a blue Spic and Span logo inset into the border at the bottom-right. The issue is highlighted by Hall of Famers Hank Aaron (the key to the set) Eddie Mathews Red Schoendienst and Warren Spahn. Four cards are short-printed - Wes Covington Felix Mantilla Schoendienst and Bob Trowbridge - and are more scarce than the rest of the set. Presented here is a grouping of 16 cards - all but the four short prints - along with the original cellophane packaging in which they were distributed. Please note that the cards are not in the packaging - this is not an unopened pack - the packaging is simply included with the cards. That being said the cards themselves are in wonderful condition EX to EX/MT on average with a few lesser and a few stronger. Very little wear is evident the images are clean and bright with very little soiling or toning. These cards were purchased by our consignor from a seller through the mail in 1999 and were consigned to us in the same envelope! The consignor received the package opened it to ensure the contents were present and the cards have remained in that envelope until they were consigned to us. Of course we'll remove the cards and ship them more securely but it's fun to know these cards have not left their envelope more than a handful of times in nearly 20 years! 16 cards total plus cellophane.
