Outstanding grouping of Frank Chance portrait cards from the T206 issue including the tough yellow/red variation. Collection includes: 1) Portrait - Yellow: Traditional "yellow portrait" card featuring the Hall of Famer with "Chicago" running vertically down the front of his Cubs jersey. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA the card is extremely well-centered and clean a very light crease traversing the card from left to right along the very top just below the border. 2) Portrait - Red: Traditional "red portrait" pose featuring Chance in a very similar pose but set against a red background. The card easily has an EX appearance centered just north on its canvas but with extremely strong eye appeal due to a rich red background and softer but square corners. The issue responsible for the FR 1.5 grade assessed by PSA is a large spot of paper loss on the reverse a clear indication that the card was once stored in a scrapbook and subsequently removed the adhesive (either glue or tape) tearing off some paper upon removal. 3) Portrait - Red (Yellow Variation): The "Cubs" logo displayed horizontally across the jersey makes it clear that this is the Red Portrait card but with a Yellow background. We have offered several examples of this variation in past auctions though the backgrounds in both cases were more orange than yellow. In all three cases the cards featured the Piedmont 150 back. An easy mistake due to the similarity of the poses PSA has labeled this card "Portrait - Yellow " assigning a grade of FR 1.5 despite strong visual appeal four spots of paper loss on the reverse the likely result of scrapbook removal. Three very attractive cards for the grade including all three known portrait poses of Hall of Famer Joe Tinker.
