Issued over a two-year period the Briggs Meats issue features 28 players from the Washington Senators and 12 from the various New York teams. Distributed in two-card panels on hot dog packages sold in and around Washington DC the color cards are printed on waxy cardboard and share images with the 1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips and 1953-55 Stahl-Meyer Hot Dogs issues. Extremely sought after the cards are relatively rare today with PSA having graded only single digits of virtually every card. Only five examples of Shea's card have been graded by PSA and this one is the most recent having lived its entire life outside a plastic tomb until being consigned from the Ted Patterson collection. Overall wear is responsible for the technically accurate grade but the card's visual appeal is far stronger.
