Now a Yankees broadcaster slugger Ken Singleton was a star in his playing days a power hitting outfielder with an excellent glove who clouted 246 home runs in his career during a time when home runs were far less frequent than today. In the 1979 Orioles pennant year he finished second in the MVP voting thanks to a .295 batting average with a career-high 35 home runs and 111 runs batted in. He retired at the end of the 1984 season with a .282 lifetime batting average in 15 seasons. Presented here is a 1974 Montreal Expos road jersey worn by Singleton. That season the outfielder batted .276 with 9 home runs his last season in Montreal before being traded with Mike Torrez for Dave McNally Rich Coggins and Bill Kirkpatrick. The jersey is a Wilson size 42 the classic Montreal Expos logo stitched onto the left breast Singleton's number 29 on the right and back. One button missing the jersey is well-worn with some fading to the patches along with some loose stitching in areas a flaw for which MEARS has deducted two full points in assessing their grade of A8. Singleton has signed the jersey on the shirttail. An excellent jersey from a well-respected star of his era.
