Bright red/orange season pass issued to George Girsch of the New York Mirror to cover the Yankees for the 1961 season. Clearly one of the most important of all the Yankee seasons and possibly the most important postwar season for any team the 1961 campaign began and ended with a home run chase Yankee outfielders Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris racing to the record under intense media scrutiny. Mantle's injury stalled him at 54 but Roger Maris famously broke the record clubbing his 61st home run against Boston's Tracy Stallard. Lost in all this is that the 1961 team was one of the greatest Yankee teams of all time finishing 103-59 catcher Elston Howard batting .348 first baseman Bill Skowron adding 28 home runs and left fielder Yogi Berra contributing 22 in just 395 at bats. Whitey Ford produced one of the great Yankee pitching seasons of all posting a 25-4 record with a 3.21 ERA and the Yankees went on to defeat the Cincinnati Reds in five games to win the Championship. George Girsch watched the whole thing using this pass to gain admittance to the games. VG/EX condition primarily due to edge chipping and softness but still presents extremely well. An important pass.
