Very scarce figural mirror base dating to 1889 picturing a baseball scene with pitcher catcher and batter. The players are backed by a fence onto which a flagpole is mounted and a pennant waves. In outstanding condition the piece includes an easel back for standing the copyright date emblazoned on the reverse. An extremely seldom-seen piece we have only found a handful of examples that have sold at public auction one of which was a part of the fabled Halper Collection. Measuring apparoximately 12 1/2" x 11" a custom-made baseball diamond-shaped mirror which easily mounts into the base accompanies the piece. The mirror itself is certainly a modern creation yet adds wonderful visual appeal to a scarce antique baseball furnishing.
I have one to sell!
