Everyone has seen it. The photo is unmistakeable. One doesn't even need to describe the year the game or the situation. One just needs to say two words: "The Catch." It was 64 years ago but many still consider it the greatest catch in the history of the game. It was the 8th inning of Game 1 Cleveland had men on first and second and Don Little took the mound against Vic Wertz. Wertz pounded the ball to straightaway centerfield and the great Willie Mays took off at a dead run tracking the ball and hauling it in with his back to home plate. He then turned and fired to second holding the baserunners at first and third. The game went into extra innings with the Giants winning in the 10th and going on to sweep against the powerhouse Indians. Presented here is an outstanding midgrade ticket stub from that game. Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA the stub exhibits only minor wear a bit of excess paper at the perf and some slight surface wear consistent with its use. Simply an outstanding relic of one of the most famous games in World Series history.
