Among the most beautiful of all the 1950s issues the colorful portrait graphics of the Red Man Tobacco cards make for an attractive display even in lesser-grade examples. Due to their size and method of distribution coupled with coupons intended to be trimmed from the bottom Red Man cards are extremely condition-sensitive. Despite having had the coupon at the bottom removed this example of the 1952 Red Man Ted Williams - unquestionably the key card to the set and extremely valuable regardless of the coupon - presents extremely well an easy VG/EX with some mild corner wear keeping the card from technically grading much higher. The autograph at the bottom of the card of course brings it to another level. The only signed 1952 Red Man Ted Williams on PSA's population report the card is a knockout the blue ballpoint signature carefully applied in the white area at the bottom of the card Williams' smiling portrait grinning above the signature. Simply a wonderful card one of the gems of this autograph collection and a signature which like the other Ted Williams signed cards in this auction was obtained in person directly by our consignor.
