Collection of eight photos of members of the Brooklyn Superbas circa 1903 including one "in action" game shot a photo of catcher Lou Ritter in full gear lunching for a thrown ball and most notably a spectacular series of six images of pitcher Ned Garvin in his windup and delivery. While action images of game play taken at such close range are scarce it is the series of shots of Garvin that are most interesting as photographc equiment was not as sophisticated in 1903 making it difficult to take shots with such speed. The photos themselves are beautiful but all exhibit some degree of fading. All have been mounted to a linen backing and were clearly trimmed from what was once a much larger piece. The fact that each photo appears to be numbered leads us to believe that the images were likely used for professional purposes. Eight photos total.
