Simply spectacular image quality on this very early N172 card of Otto Schomberg from the 0-numbered series of 1887. The image contrast is truly remarkable with virtually no fading. The card has been graded AUTHENTIC by SGC; when we asked subsequent to receiving the card back the reason for the grade we were led to believe it was due to a skinned reverse however the reverse seems just fine. After consulting with the consignor however he advised that a previous submission of this card had resulted in a "trimmed" designation. We believe the grade is not a result of a skinned back but due to SGC's perception of an irregular cut. Despite the grade this remains one of the finest Old Judge images we have handled.
