Clean and attractive midgrade 1960 Topps set. The 1960 issue was the first set of horizontal cards issued by Topps in four seasons and would be the company's final exclusively horizontal set. The whimsical design reflects the flavor of the era each card including both a portrait and "action" photo set against a colorful backdrop. This particular set is typified by commons that are of slightly higher grade than the keys as the commons tend to skew higher in terms of overall condition on average. A complete breakdown of condition for the entire set would be 10% EX-MT; 34% EX; 36% VG/EX; 13% VG; 5% G and 2% lesser. The keys would grade as follows: #1 Wynn VG/EX; 10 Banks VG; 55 Mazeroski VG; 73 Gibson EX; 136 Kaat VG/EX; 160 Mantle/Boyer GOOD; 200 Mays EX; 250 Snider EX; 260 Musial VG/EX; 280 Mantle EX; 300 Aaron VG/EX; 316 McCovey VG/EX; 236 Clemente G; 343 Koufax VG/EX; 350 Mantle VG/EX; 420 Mathews VG; 475 Drysdale VG/EX; 480 Berra EX; 490 F. Robinson VG/EX; 502 Bunning EX; 554 McCovey AS VG; 563 Mantle AS F; 564 Mays AS VG/EX; 566 Aaron AS VG/EX. The primary condition flaws within this set relate mainly to Topps centering typical for the era some occasional wax stains as well as slight corner dings and small corner creases pronounced enough to reduce the technical grade of the set but in most cases not enough to detract significantly from the eye appeal of the cards. This is an attractive midgrade set. 572 cards total.
