I have one to sell!
The oversized M101-6 cards issued between 1917 and 1920 by publisher Felix Mendelsohn are among the most beautiful photographic cards of their era. Measuring 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" the cards have long been scarce but demand has increased exponentially in recent years likely due to the advent of grading company holders large enough to accommodate the cards. Though complete sets were advertised in the Sporting News at 100 cards for $5 more than 110 different subjects have now been confirmed along with several team variations. Today Hall of Famers from the issue are in particularly high demand. This example picturing Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander with the Chicago Cubs (a team variation depicting him with Philadelphia was also produced) has been graded FR 1.5 by SGC due largely to corner and edge wear with some minor creasing as well. The card does exhibit some toning thus darkening the image but it is the rarity and not the grade that leads to the desirability of the card.
