The Stevengraphc company produced a wide variety of woven silk materials near the turn of the century. The company produced colorful pictures woven from silk well into the 1930s but in 1940 the Stevengraph factory was destroyed in a German bombing attack. Today Stevengraphs are highly collectible. Woven silk image depicting a baseball game the field surrounded by American flags. Typically Stevengraphs are found inside a cabinet-style cardboard frame; in this case the image is not encased in its frame meausring just 5 3/4" x 2". The "First Innings" is one of the most sought-after of all the Stevengraphs. This example presents well some minor staining evident particularly around the edges where the cardboard frame once connected to the piece.
