I have one to sell!
Complete set of 1880s Capadura "Segar" baseball trade cards. Issued by R. C. Brown & Co. of New York the cards typically feature an "Imperial Segar Manufactory" ad on the reverse touting the Cuban tobacco of Capadura Segars. Each of the five cards features a baseball-related cartoon with a (not so) humorous caption underneath. Trade cards were an effective method of 19th Century advertising as collectors would strive to complete sets and often filled scrapbooks with the colorful lithographic cards. This complete set of five cards from the issue technically grades F-P due to staining back damage and in the case of the "Where will you have them?" and "A short stop" cards the borders having been trimmed away the images on each remain strong and colorful. Four of the five cards contain the Capadura ad on the reverse the fifth is blank. Overall an attractive group of scarce and highly collectible trade cards.
