Clearly one of the most popular of all the N172 Old Judge cards picturing Hall of Fame catcher Buck Ewing along with Willie Breslin the young Giants mascot. Breslin was popular enough to have been given his own card in the set and standing on a chair alongside the great Giants catcher in full (yet miniature) uniform this is one of the most prized and memorable cards in the enormous Old Judge issue. Adding to the desirability of this card is an outstanding bold image with tremendous contrast. The EX 5 grade assessed by SGC makes it one of the higher-grade specimens SGC has assessed; just seven examples have graded higher. PSA for their part has assessed just one single specimen at a higher level. Over the last year Ewing & Mascot cards have begun to escalate in price significantly regardless of whether the card is the N172 or the N173 cabinet counterpart. An example with image quality this strong has not been made available in some time; this is a tremendous card with a level of quality that is seldom seen.
